Hexagonal Japanese parcel-gilt (partial-gilt) bronze ink and pen holder with hinged lid and long cylindrical handle. Gilded areas consist of various birds species, figures, and plants.

Comes with text panel that says:

ORNAMENTAL JAPANESE PARCEL-GILT BRONZE INK AND PEN HOLDER

HEXAGONAL CONTAINER WITH HINGED LID AND LONG CYLINDRICAL HANDLE DECORATED WITH BIRDS AND FIGURES WAS USED BY 19TH CENTURY CARPENTERS WHEN MAKING LUMBER.
