Abstract

On Friday, Sept. 25, UND will unveil a revamped, socially responsive homepage and a new news center

The University of North Dakota will unveil a new main web page and will also launch the UND News Center, beginning Friday, Sept. 25.

Created with input from UND Admissions, the changes to UND's main web page are designed to make it easier for prospective students and their families to find information about the areas that are most important to them (A on the image): visiting UND, academic programs, and applying for admission. Want a preview?

Current users will find navigation to their favorite links, such as “My UND,” across the header of the new main page. You will find news and feature stories, photos and videos about UND and UND Athletics, the UND calendar and University Letter at the new News Center.

New main web page

The navigation in the header and footer of all UND web pages will remain the same, so faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors and friends will find familiar links. The “My UND” link was enlarged and includes a dropdown menu of logins that students, faculty and staff use most.

A new feature for the main web page is a social media area (B on the image) that allows the UND community to share their own perspectives on what’s happening on campus. Attending a UND event and want to share the excitement? Post to your favorite social media site with #myUND and your posting will be considered for display.

The lower section of the new main web page (C on the image) makes it easy for donors, students and other interested parties to access high priority areas of the website. In this section, the link to “News” will take people to a the News Center, which provides expanded opportunities for spotlighting UND’s research, academics, people and activities around the world.

New UND News Center

The News Center was developed to provide more opportunities to help tell UND's extraordinary stories and to help more effectively provide UND news to media and the UND community. The News Center includes space to showcase examples of UND mentions in national news, as well as providing more options for displaying video and visual content.

Also on the News Center page: the UND Calendar and space that gives prominence to UND’s news-related social media channels.

Avid users of the UND website are encouraged to think about making the News Center or the My UND page their new home page. Below are step-by-step instructions from several web browsers on how to designate a new home page.
