Abstract

Vote for your favorite HLC photo before Oct. 11

Help celebrate the University of North Dakota's 100th anniversary of accreditation by the Higher Learner Commission (HLC) by choosing the winners of the Exceptional UND photo contest. The theme of the photo contest is "Show the HLC What Makes UND Exceptional."

Eighty entries were received by staff, faculty, and students in five Exceptional UND categories: Experience, Gather, Collaborate, Expand, and Enhance. Now the campus community is asked to vote for their favorite photos by "liking" them on Facebook before Oct. 11.

"We're excited with the level of campus-wide participation in the Exceptional UND photo contest," said Patrick O'Neill, chair of the HLC Publicity Campaign Team. "Our goal is to educate the UND community about the five Exceptional UND priorities and how they tie into the HLC reaccreditation self-study."

One winner from each category will be announced on Oct. 16. Each winner will receive a $50 UND Bookstore gift card and be featured in the Dakota Student. The photos will be used to show the HLC how UND has enriched the student experience, encouraged gathering, facilitated collaboration, expanded UND's presence, and enhanced quality of life.

The HLC will visit campus October 28-30, 2013, for UND's reaccreditation process. Visit UND.edu/hlc to learn more about the reaccreditation process and to read the self-study report.

UND has been accredited by the HLC of the North Central Association since 1913.
