Abstract

UND Earth Week gets under way April 22 at the Union

Campus event runs 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 22, Memorial Union first floor and Loading Dock

UND and the City of Grand Forks celebrate Earth Day and invite the community to share the week-long schedule of events and activities. The events and tours are co-sponsored by the UND Council on Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability (Sustainability Council).

What does sustainability mean to UND? Sustainability means that as a University, we strive to meet the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. It means finding ways we can save energy, be friendlier to the environment, and conduct research to help future generations. The University's green efforts landed it once again on the Princeton Review's Guide to 322 Green Colleges.

Part of UND's sustainability effort includes a regularly updated campus climate impact inventory of all of the University's greenhouse gas emissions, including emissions from electricity, heating, commuting, and air travel, and update the inventory every other year thereafter.
