Abstract

Campus photo wins prospective student 2nd place in national scholarship contest

Alisa Vinje, a high school senior from Kent, Wash., and a prospective student of the University of North Dakota, recently won second place in the University Language Services national photo contest with her photo of the UND campus.

To enter the contest, high school students were asked to submit a photo they took of a campus during a visit and provide a 200-word description of how the photo represents college to them.

Vinje focused on the independence, serenity and all around friendly vibe of UND.

"The feel of this campus was incredible," Vinje said in her description of the photo. "My image of college does not carry drama, rivalries or discrimination. It is one where you can do your own thing in a crowd and be perfectly content."
