Abstract
Educator, filmmaker will offer diversity training
Lee Mun Wah, internationally recognized Chinese American diversity educator, documentary filmmaker, author, poet and Asian folkteller will be at UND campus from November 14-15, 2011 for three educational events.
- Monday, November 14, Community event - open to all university students, employees and community members, from 6:30pm - 9:30pm, Film Viewing & Discussion, If these Halls Could Talk, Memorial Union, 2nd Floor, River Valley Room.
- Tuesday, November 15, Staff/faculty training from 8am - 12pm, Lee Mun Wah will present, Diversity Conversations in the Classroom , Memorial Union, 2nd floor, River Valley Room. Reservations required for this event: Contact Alana Fosse, Dept. of Teaching & Learning for reservations, 777-0826.
- Tuesday, November 15, Open to all students, campus-wide. Session 1: 1:30-2:30 pm Keynote: by Lee Mun Wah, Only A World Away, Session 2: 2:30-4:30 pm, How to Have a Dialogue Across Cultures- Student Dialogue Groups, both events held in the Memorial Union, 2nd Floor, Lecture Bowl.
Lee Mun Wah has served as a resource specialist and counselor in the San Francisco Unified School District for over 25 years. He is currently the Executive Director of Stirfry Seminars & Consulting, a diversity training company out of Berkeley, California that provides educational tools and workshops on issues pertaining to cross-cultural communication and awareness and conflict mediation techniques. The University of North Dakota Chester Fritz Library currently holds his book and training video, The Art of Mindful Facilitation (2004), and two of his earlier videos, The Color of Fear (1995) and Last Chance for Eden (2008).
