Molcajete: The molcajete, a traditional Mexican mortar and pestle, has a rich history rooted in Mesoamerica, dating back hundreds of years to pre-Hispanic times. These tools were used by cultures like the Aztecs and Mayas for grinding ingredients like seeds, spices, and chiles, essential for preparing food. Made from basalt volcanic rock, the molcajete's rough surface is ideal for blending and releasing flavors. It is used in Mexican homes to use salsas and to grind spices, onions and garlic.
