Additional Information
From James Carley's notes: Redware wash bowl 14 1/2" dia. 4 1/2" high. White slip inside covered with a transparent lead glaze (appearing yellow). Sponged daubs in brown. In worn places the red body shows through, and the coloring of the whole is extremely subtle. Purchased at an antique show. Indianapolis. Came from Columbia, Ohio (south of Canfield.) This type of wash bowl was made in the 18th c. This is probably 18th c. Possibly made at the Bailey pottery, Newburyport, 1764-99.
