From James Carley's notes: Molasses jug of cream colored stoneware 12" high, 2 gallons, with plum brown slip. Mark: Impressed below the spout (2 J FISHER LYONS, N.Y.) The original stopper of hollow wood is attached by a string to the handle. The outside dates of Jacob Fisher's interest in the Lyons pottery are 1872-1902. In 1882 he became sole proprietor. The bulk of the ware produced during his tenure is marked J. Fisher & Co. Lyons NY. Purchased in Middlebury VT.
