Additional Information

From James Carley's notes: Stoneware crock or vase 9 3/4" high, beautiful ovoid shape with gray salt galze unusually smooth and lustrous. Lined with light brown slip. Mark: N. CLARK, PARKERSBURG, Impressed. And under that a circular stamp put on upside down. There is a suggestion of yellow glaze on the upper part. A couple of brown blueshes. Purchased in Staunton VA. (Parkersburg after the Cvil War is in West Val, on the Ohio border.)
