Description

This letter, dated March 12, 1956, from United States (US) Secretary of the Interior Wesley D'Ewart to US Representative and Chair of the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs Clair Engle provides a report on US House Resolution 9324 (H. R. 9324), as requested. The bill grants grazing, fishing, and hunting rights to members of the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation in the taking area, land that was taken by the US government for use in construction of the Garrison Dam and its accompanying reservoir. A handwritten note on the letter reads, "Fort Berthold."
