Description
This letter, dated May 5, 1955, from United States (US) Representative Usher Burdick to Alyce Machado provides an update on her inquiry about the enrollment of her children into the Three Affiliated Tribes. Burdick relays the information sent to him by Superintendent of the Fort Berthold Indian Agency, Ralph M. Shane, which indicated that enrollment is at the discretion of the tribal council. Burdick said that he would keep working to help her enroll her children.
