Description
Eleven players from the 1895 team are depicted. Nine are wearing football uniforms, seven of them with "UND" on the front of their shirts. The coach is wearing a suit and tie, while another player is wearing a black turtle neck. The 1895 team was coaching by Lieutenant Charles S. Farnsworth who had come to the university as the military trainer (1893). William Nuessle served as the captain (he would later become the Chief Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court). The team played two games, a 42-0 victory over North Dakota Agricultural College and a 12-4 loss at Fargo.
