Davis, Ed Wells, Marshall Brannen, Russell Craig, Professor Melvin Brannon. Dr. George J. Sweetland and Professor Brannon are wearing suits and ties. The rest of the mean are wearing uniforms, and Victor Wardrope, the team captain, is holding the football. The 1904 team had a 6-1-0 record, losing only a road game to Minnesota 35-0. A Minneapolis newspaper account made what is believed to be the first official use of the nickname "Flickertails" to describe the UND team which remained in place until 1930.
