Artist Bio
Laurence Whitfield was born in 1938 in Manchester, England. Whitfield studied at the Manchester Regional College of Art in 1959, and then went on to study at the Slade School of Fine Art, London from 1960 to 1962. He is best known for his sculptures, drawings, collages, and several other mediums that he experiments in. His pieces are often bright in color, abstract, and are both representational and nonrepresentational.
Additional Information
Laurence Whitfield was an Artist in Residence at the University of Kentucky during the 1970's which was when he presented "Kentucky Drawings" at the Center for Contemporary Art U.K. Gallery.
