Artist Bio
Howard Finster was an American artist and Baptist minister born in Valley Head, Alabama in 1916. Finster is best known for converting the acreage around his workshop into a sacred place called Paradise Garden. Paradise Garden is a collection of Finster's artwork which consists of converting junk into paintings, sculptures and architecture that praise the transformational power of his Lord God. Although he had no formal education in the fine arts, Howard Finster has work in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution, the Library of Congress and several others.
