Sold by the Museum of Unterlinden in Colmar, France, published by Braun and Co.
Matthias Neithart Grünewald was a Renaissance painter born in 1475 in Germany. He is best known for his emotional and gruesome religious paintings, the Isenheim Altar being his ultimate masterpiece. The altar was commissioned by the church of the monastery of Saint Anthony in Alsace.

Photograph is a part of the Altarpiece of Isenheim, 1510-1515. Photograph depicts two roses in the foreground with a castle on a hill beside a body of water.
