In this Grand Challenges Information Symposium Panel from Wednesday, March 21, 2018, as part of the 49th Annual UND Writers Conference: “Truth & Lies,” Joe Vacek, Al Frazier, and Jeremy Straub participate in a panel. The panelists explore current ways of gathering data both voluntarily and involuntarily using drones and social media and how artificial intelligence is used in processing the data and predicting outcomes. The panelists also discuss the projected uses of the technologies for control and decision making. The session includes an accessible technological analysis of our everyday experiences and an interaction with information gathering devices, while also engaging with the audience in discussing the social implications of it.
