This audiovisual recording from March 29th, 2007 as part of the 38th annual UND Writers Conference: “Writing the Body” features Miller Williams, Stuart Dybek, and Timothy Liu comprising the panel “The Body Politic.” The panel discusses the multiplicity of the conceptual “body,” body as political affiliation and writer membership in a political body or intellectual academy, and the politics of sexuality. Liu reads an excerpt from Michel Foucault's The History of Sexuality. The panel also discusses art as transcendent of mortality, the sexual freedoms and identities associated with bodies, and the literature that helps form the panelists' notions of the body.
