In this audiovisual recording from Tuesday, March 21, 2006, as part of the 37th Annual UND Writers Conference: “Border Crossings,” Branca Vilela reads a selection of poems written in Spanish and Galician. Dr. Heidi Czerweic reads English translations of the poems. These poems include “If You Leave,” “I Am,” “The Sea Shouts For His Daughter,” You Are November Rain,” Seeking Unprintable Verse,” “Don't Let,” “The Wolves,” “Perpetual Heart,” and “I'm Already Tired.” Vilela also responds to audience questions about the languages in which she writes, her sense of language and place, and the challenges of English translation.
