Description

A photograph of UND football player, Glen (Red ) Jarrett, in his football uniform. Jarrett lettered on the 1928-1930 football teams, and he was captain during the 1930 football season. According to Louis Geiger, Jarrett was, "named to one New York sports writer's All-American team in 1930 and given honorable mention by Knute Rockne" (325). The 1931 Annual describes Jarrett's athletic ability: "'Red's' ability to scurry through the opposition, his lightning speed and all-around cleverness, made him a constant source of apprehension to Flickertail opponents. In practically every clash the past season Jarrett broke away on flashy runs through the opposing lines and secondary defense that resulted in the necessary encounters" (294). Jarrett went on to become UND's football coach and athletic director in the spring of 1947. Jarrett helped the UND hockey team change from a club team to an official Division I team in 1951-1952. For more information on the UND Football Team see UNDs Football Media Guide, 1904 Annual pg 169-170, and A Century of UND Sports, pg 47.
