Describing herself as a “rural North Dakota farm girl” who grew up in the western part of the state, Erica Odermann evolved from having an early interest in agricultural education to earning a BFA with an emphasis in art education at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
The setting of Odermann’s print is her family’s farm, where the current oil boom has had a severe affect on the environment. The animals, as well as people, on farms and ranches now have to coexist and share the same space with oil wells.
Included in the 2023 exhibition, Beyond the Horizon.
