Artist Bio

As a University of North Dakota professor in Visual Arts from 1973-2007, Paulsen’s name and work are familiar to most artists and collectors in the region and beyond. His surreal juxtapositions of objects and figures in collage-like painted arrangements are playful, puzzling, and provocative all at once.
