Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide an understanding of the nature of restorative practices within the framework of restorative justice, successful strategies utilized in middle school settings, and the impact restorative justice can have on a school’s climate and culture. This study focused on three North Dakota middle schools that implement restorative practices. Interviews were conducted with three teachers and three principals. The participants identified the successful strategies used in their schools and the impact of effective restorative practices on their climate and culture. In addition, the research gathered was used to create professional development workshops for teachers, administrators, and school districts.
