Description

In the 1930s, the Ceramics Department at the University of North Dakota was enduring financial hardships brought on during the Great Depression. In an effort to raise funds for continuation of the program, several special commission projects were taken on. Among them, was a series of commemorative medallions that organizations or schools could have produced by the Ceramics Dept. Many organizations placed orders—including the Young GOP, represented by the elephant, and the Non-Partisan League, represented by the goat. Serving as the league’s mascot it was known as, “The Goat that Can’t be Got”.
