Abstract

Evidentiary document NO 3106, "Affidavit by Dr. Viktor ABEND on Auschwitz and Ohrdruf (S-III)," from the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials. The document summarizes an affidavit from Dr. Abend, a Jewish physician from Poland. After being captured following the German invasion of Poland, Abend was sent to Auschwitz where he cared for patients infected with typhus. He also describes the general conditions at both Auschwitz and Ohrdruf (a subcamp of Buchenwald) and the continual gassing and death of Jews from Hungary. The affidavit was taken on April 9, 1947.
