Text-Message Dependence is the reliance of using texting in an individual’s day-to-day life. This study further examined the construct of text-message dependence in a diverse sample of 455 participants from across the United States. After accounting for age, sex, phone use, leisure boredom proneness, extraversion, depression, and anxiety we were able to account for 33.4% of variance of texting dependence scores. These results advocate there are many facets to texting dependence, some of which having previously not been explored in the empirical literature.
