President John F. Kennedy meets with John Hove, a candidate for the House of Representatives, in the Oval Office at the White House on September 18, 1963.
Dr. John Hove was an English professor at North Dakota State University. He was also an unsuccessful candidate in a special election to the United States House of Representatives in 1963, caused by the death of Hjalmar Nygaard. Hove lost the election to Mark Andrews, a farmer from Mapleton.
