North Dakota Governor John Moses shakes hands with an unidentified member of the armed forces. Born in Norway, Moses emigrated to the United States and graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1914. He served as Governor of North Dakota from 1939 until 1945, when he was elected to the United States Senate. He died shortly after taking office on March 3, 1945.
