Artist Bio

Danielle SeeWalker is Húŋkpapȟa Lakȟóta and citizen of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North Dakota. She is a visual artist, activist, muralist, and author. SeeWalker uses mixed media to highlight traditional native imagery and also addresses the contemporary experience and culture of Native Americans.

Additional Information

Two women with grey faces and white braids suspended in the air stand next to each other. They each have one eye and a series of lines across their faces. One woman is depicted in blue and the other in yellow, both with a repeating pattern across their garments. Danielle SeeWalker often includes braids in her work that function in various ways. In this instance, the title of the work implies that they are depicted as a form of protest or resistance against the erasure of Native American culture.
