Jack Murphy, U.S. Army Air Force: Stalag Luft 1, Germany, World War II
Oral history interview with Jack W. Murphy of the U.S. Army Air Force during the Second World War. Murphy was shot down over Austria in July 1944 and was imprisoned at Stalag Luft 1, near Barth, Germany. The camp was liberated by the Russian army in early May 1945. Jack W. Murphy was born in Pennsylvania on 15 January 1917 and died in the same state on 20 December 2005.
Kriegieland was a video documentary series examining the experiences of Prisoners of War (POWs) from the Second World War and the Korean War. Elmer Lian, himself a POW in Germany during World War II, hosted the series, which was produced by the UND AeroSpace Network.
