Additional Information

The Century of Progress Exposition in 1933, held on the lakefront of Chicago, handed out brochures describing Canada’s resources and their progress during the previous century. The brochure includes a map of Canada on the back and the country’s official motto, “From Sea to Sea.” The motto, “Mari usque ad mare” which roughly translates to “From Sea to Sea,” is found on its coat of arms and began as an aspirational statement during the Confederation.
