John Gendall was a British painter born in 1790 in Exeter, UK. Although not formally trained, Gendall's talent caught the eye of a print seller named Rudolf Ackermann who employed him and Gendall soon earned the ranking of manager. John Gendall is best known for his involvement in the early stages of lithography, his independent creation of an art school, the creation of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, and his landscape paintings of Devon. John Gendall's works can be found in the permanent collections of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum.
