Additional Information

One of seven hangin scrolls endowed by Chester Fritz for the East Asian Room. Executed inning and color on silk, this portrait is unusual because of the number of figures depicted. Ancestral paintings usually pictured two to four figures. Six male an eight female court figures may indicate male ancestors with more than one wife. They are clothed in elaborate roves with rank badges and official headdresses.
