Additional Information

From James Carley's notes: Redware jar 9 1/2" high, with beautiful brown yellow glaze inside and out. Chipped off in a good many places. Incised lines at shoulder & base. The neck and lip are well shaped. Mark, scratched on the bottom (see image) It holds three quarts. At one point after the chipping had occured it was painted with vermillion. Purchased: Mile House Trading Post, Wallace "Cyrley" Underwood, New Market, VA. It was bought in Columbia Furnace and is supposed to have been made in Strasburg. (at one time there were 22 potteries in Strasburg.)
