From James Carley's notes: Redware jar, 11" high with almost black gloss glaze inside and out. Base bare. Incised lines at shoulder and down about 2 in. Good condition. Purchased Indianapolis. The dealer, Gus Kapp of Hudson Ohio wrote me: "Purchased in Westfield, NY and from the early form of the piece I would date it c. 1800, of New England origin rather than Penna."
