Description
This letter dated June 5, 1958, from United States Assistant Secretary of the Interior Royce A. Hardy to United States House Representative Clair Engle, addresses H.R. 10445 and H.R. 10485, which would name the Garrison Dam reservoir "Lake Sakakawea." Writing in his official capacity, Hardy opposes renaming the reservoir because it is already commonly known by Garrison Reservoir and because the Board on Geographic Names had already approved the use of Sakakawea as the name for other geological features.
