Elwyn F. Chandler was appointed Instructor of Mathematics in 1899 and Professor of Mathematics from 1905-1914. He became the first professor of civil engineering in 1914 until 1932 and served as Dean of the College of Engineering (1926-1932) and Dean Emeritus until 1944.
