Description

A young Webster Merrifield, Yale University Alum, was initially hired as a Professor of Greek and Latin (1884-1886). He served as the first University Librarian (1888-1891) and then as President of the University of North Dakota (1891-1909). He was instrumental in creating the Liberal Arts curriculum.
