George S. Thomas served as a Professor of Greek and Latin (1892-1906), Professor of Latin (1906-1911), Dean of the College of Arts (1900-1911). In the absence of President Webster Merrifield, Thomas was Acting President. He earned a Master's degree from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. from the University of Leipzig. This photograph is the same as UAP 1735.
