Printed Matter Inc. was founded independently in 1976 in Tribeca by a group of people working in the art scene at the time, including artist Sol LeWitt and critic Lucy Lippard. Printed Matter Inc. is still a non-profit publishing company that exists today in New York City, NY. Their bookstore provided a creative space for artists to do performance art, hold exhibitions and showcase their publications. They are dedicated to the understanding and appreciation of artist's books and publications.
