Description

We typically think about students, faculty, and perhaps community members as our stakeholders and target audience for library resources and services. However, higher education administrators also need information to help them make good decisions and to guide campus training processes. As librarians, we are professionals at acquiring information resources and experts in using them. This interactive session presented at the Charleston Conference 2025 addressed how librarian expertise, particularly collections librarians, could be leveraged to meet administrators’ needs and demonstrate the value of the library. In addition to providing examples of services librarians can implement based on the presenter’s experiences, the session included time to reflect with colleagues on services already provided or that could be provided to market to administrators. Besides highlighting customized reports and licensing options that can show the library’s value to administrators, this session included examples from a pilot faculty affairs consultation service that used both AI and traditional research database tools.
